Sony and Mysteries of the World Interlaken Plan to Collaborate

The business division "Broadcast & Professional" of the electronics group Sony and the projected "Mysteries of the World" theme park in Interlaken have announced plans that they intend to collaborate closely. The "Mysteries of the World" project, conceived by the successful author and TV-presenter Erich von Däniken, looks into unsolved puzzles of this world. It will be finished in the spring of 2002, in the form of a futuristic theme park, and will cover a surface area of 100,000 square meters. On average, half a million visitors per year are expected.

Sony's business division Broadcast & Professional is the market leader for audio-visual products and systems for use by professionals. The attractive visualisation and animation of "Mysteries of the World" in Interlaken requires a considerable degree of such high-tech solutions. The planned cooperation will therefore concentrate mainly on providing the theme park with video and data project systems by Sony, in the form of a technology/product partnership combined with a joint communications presence.

Sony explains the reasons behind the planned collaboration as being the synergy effects which can be expected thanks to the futuristic and technology-oriented concept of "Mysteries of the World". The international interest in the theme park offers the ideal platform to strengthen Sony's image in the field of professional project solutions. Due to the cooperation, it will be possible to put Sony's very latest technologies into practice.

Sony is convinced that, with "Mysteries of the World", it is supporting a project with long-term prospects and professional management. Moreover, the extent to which the planning has already achieved, the wide support from the public, as well as the positive interest shown by political and economic elements, all prove that practically no obstacles stand in the way of the theme park's realisation.
